Shifting View was founded by Nancy Whiteman and Linda Roan-Yager to provide inspiration, support, and practical strategies for parents of children with special needs. As mothers of children with exceptional needs ourselves, we understand the unique challenges, stresses, and rewards of parenting our children--and we know first-hand how our focus on their needs can end up depleting our own reserves of energy and joy.

Shifting View focuses on the needs of the parents. Whether the child has a disability, an illness or mental health challenges, we know first hand how exhausting and isolating this experience can be for parents. And, in our desire to do the best for our children, it?s easy to neglect our own lives. Both research and our personal experience confirm that parents must be happy with their own lives before they are also able to do their best for their children. Our workshops and coaching are designed to give parents practical tools and techniques to create lives filled with balance, joy, and wholeness.

We also provide training and coaching to professionals who work with families whose children have special needs. Our work with educators, therapists, and other professionals focuses on skill development around family directed practices.
